IS THIS MOVING OR MIGRATION?
Confrontations at the Jobcenter, finding an affordable flat, looking for work, networking: These are oftenusually the first challenges for new Berliners arriving from Southern Europe. Even thoughAlthough, as EU-citizens, they are still privileged in comparison to other migrants, many of their liberties are increasingly questioned through the crisis. What does it mean to move from countries that are hit especially hard by the crisis, like Spain, Italy or Greece? How does it feel to arrive at a place from where austerity measures are being pushed which have fatal consequences for Southern Europe? How does it feel to arrive at a place, from which austerity measures that incur fatal consequences for Southern Europe, are exerted from? At the same time social benefits for EU citizens are being restricted and the Jobcenter declines requests for Hartz IV in large quantities.
Carmela Negrete moved from Spain to Berlin about two years ago. She lives herself from various, precarious jobs and engages in journalism. She lives from various precarious jobs and works as a journalist. Her main focus is on the crisis and the political movement in Spain, as well as the situation of young precarious Spaniards in Berlin. Carmela writes for the Junge Welt, Neues Deutschland and various Spanish newspapers. Her and another speaker will report on their experiences of arriving in Berlin.
Subsequently we will discuss starting points for common political activities of new Berliners and leftist groups. Topics will be work, housing rent and transnational networking in the capital of the country, which, like no other EU member state, promotes austerity measures in the European Union.
The event is in English. Individual translations to German are also availablepossible.

Πρόκειται για μετακόμιση ή ήδη για μετανάστευση;
