Solidarity is central to the political left. David Featherstone positions solidarity as an ongoing and transformative political relationship. He explores forms of internationalism from below constructed through struggles against neo-liberalism and climate justice activism. This affirms solidarity as an indispensable tool for forging more equal worlds. Solidarities are central in politicising the economic crisis and offering alternatives beyond austerity.

David Featherstone is lecturer in human geography at the University of Glasgow. He has contributed to debates on the political geographies of globalization and on the relations between resistance, space and politics. His work has also developed core concerns with subaltern political ecologies and the formation of transnational solidarity networks. He is the author of Solidarity. Hidden Histories and Geographies of Internationalism, Zed Books 2012.
