Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nikita Dhawan wird die Studierendenkonferenz am Donnerstag (11.07.) um 10:00 Uhr mit der keynote lecutre "Can Non-Europeans Philosophize" eröffnen.

Nikita Dhawan ist Professorin am Institut für Politikwissenschaften und Gender Studies an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. In ihrer Arbeit analysiert sie das ambivalente Erbe der europäischen Aufklärung für die postkoloniale Welt und sucht einer alternativen postkolonialen-queerfeministischen Ideengeschichte von Schlüsselkonzepten nachzugehen. Sie hat 2017 den Käthe-Leichter-Preis für ihre Leistungen auf dem Gebiet der Frauenforschung, Geschlechterforschung und Gleichstellung.

Abstract zu ihrem Vortrag:

Given that the normative idea of philosophy, as defined during the Enlightenment, continues to delegitimize non-European perspectives, the integration of previously marginalized knowledges into the philosophical canon is insufficient; rather, in order to desubalternize non-Western epistemologies, it is imperative to undo the uneven distribution of epistemic agency globally. Drawing on Gayatri Spivak's ideas of transnational literacy and planetary ethics, my talk will focus on the contribution of postcolonial-feminist critique in imagining postimperial philosophy in a global Age.
