Grace Blakeley: Vulture Capitalism — How to Survive in an Age of Corporate Greed

The talk of “freedom” under capitalism is a smokescreen.
It protects the rich and powerful – and disempowers ordinary people.

Carmakers hand out record profits to shareholders, only to later call for government aid and threaten job cuts. Aviation giants build planes that can’t fly – costing lives. Meanwhile, countries compete in a global race of subsidies for corporations while slashing social benefits. As democratic parties call these developments “without alternatives,” the far right exploits the crisis, channeling public anger toward the most vulnerable.

This isn’t a glitch in the system – it is the system. It’s the essence of capitalism.

Oxford economist, political analyst, and bestselling author Grace Blakeley lays bare the mechanisms of oligarchy and 2.0 neoliberalism. Her message is clear: Only by standing together can citizens break the alliance between the ultra-rich and the far right – and defend the possibility of a truly free life for all.

Grace Blakeley, born in 1993, is an author, journalist, and political commentator. She studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University, graduating with distinction. She is considered one of the most prominent anti-capitalist voices of her generation and is the editor of Futures of Socialism.
