Description
Johanna Bussemer in conversation with Li Andersson and Luka Mesec.
- Li Andersson is the former leader of the Finnish Left Allicance (Vasemmistoliitto) and served as Minister of Education in the Finnish coalition government from 2019 to 2023. Today, she is the chair of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs in the European Parliament.
- Luka Mesec is a co-founder of the Slovenian Levica party and has served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic and Social Affairs in a coalition government led by Robert Golo since June 2022.
Even in the midst of financial and geopolitical turmoil, Andersson and Mesec have been able to shape the course of their countries from the left. Can the left push through policy initiatives within a governing coalition - even as the junior partner? And how can the left advance progressive social policies? Andersson and Mesec's experiences can guide the way.
