A Feeling Greater Than Love (Shu’our akbar min el hob; Lebanon 2017)

The documentary is a social and political commentary on the struggles of the labour movement in the early 1970s. It focuses on two strikes that took place during that conflict. One is a protest of tobacco farmers where a young woman is killed; in the second one workers protest in a chocolate factory. Neither of those two events are a part of the collective memory of modern Lebanese society, having been erased by the trauma of civil war.

In her film "A Feeling Greater Than Love" (Shu'our akbar min el hob), Mary Jirmanus Sabas raises important questions about the possibilities of revolution and cinema, and compares the past with the present.
