This ethnographic film gathers the oral histories of farmers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, weaving together memories of pre-pesticide abundance with present-day struggles and hopes for revival. Through these testimonies, Lay Your Hands on Full Stomach opens a space to reflect on the politics of food, land, and sustainability.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with the film director Shenah Abdullah on food sovereignty and the oral history of Kurdish farmers, inviting dialogue about the intersections of tradition, ecology, and self-determination.
