At our weekend seminar in Berlin, we take a look at the economy in Tanzania from a variety of perspectives.
We will open the event on Friday evening with an impressive photo exhibition of women during the Corona pandemic.
On Saturday, we start the day with a historical review and then move on to the present: Which pre-colonial trade relations existed and where did Tanzania position itself during the Cold War? How does Russia's resurgent interest in Africa influence Tanzania today? We will also discuss the impacts of the Russian invasion in Ukraine on the lives of the people and the energy sector in Tanzania. The day will conclude with a screening of the film “T-Junction” by Tanzanian filmmaker Amil Shivji.
On Sunday, we will focus on free trade agreements. Where do we stand in terms of the African Free Trade Area (AfCTA) and the East African Union (EAC)? And what opportunities and risks are inherent in the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA)?
As a closing event we offer a small Trade Fair: Participants are invited to present their own projects and companies.
The event is open for registration to everyone who is interested. Those who do not want to participate in the whole seminar can also join us for the exhibition on Friday only (no fee).
