While countless extreme weather events around the world are jeopardising cities, forests and human lives, the international gas lobby celebrates it`s success in selling dirty gas as ‘clean energy’ at the ‘World LNG Summit’ in the posh Adlon Hotel in Berlin. They are doing everything they can to maintain their business model and slow down the energy transition. We all need affordable, safe and clean energy — but this is only possible with renewable energies. Therefore we are organising action days in Berlin parallel to the gas lobby.
On Sunday (8 December) from 10:00-20:00, there will be an exciting programme on the topics of LNG, fracking and the gas phase-out at the Counter-Gas Summit. The workshops will discuss LNG policy in Germany as well as the international context and impacts of LNG. The panel in the evening will discuss with international guests the experiences made worldwide in the fight against the LNG industry.
On Monday (9 December) from 16:00-18:00, the alliance invites you to a screening of the film Yintha (https://www.yintahfilm.com/). The Canadian documentary film (2024) portrays the struggle of the Wet'suwet'en First Nation against the pipeline developments that threaten their traditional land. The film will be followed by a political panel discussion from 19:00-20:30.
The programme of the Counter-Gas Summit can be found here: https://gasgipfel.de/en/summit/
Attendance is free of charge and food will be provided.
The event is being organised in cooperation with a large number of initiatives, NGOs and international activists.
