Online: Susan Paulson und Jason Hickel: Was Sie schon immer über Post-Wachstum wissen wollten

Englisch mit Simultanübersetzung ins Deutsche

Capitalism puts enormous strain on ecological interdependence, bringing us closer to tipping points. The earth’s resilience becomes exhausted.
Growth is a propaganda term; it takes processes of extraction, commodification, and elite accumulation, which are quite often destructive to human communities and to ecology, and sells them as natural, good and common-sense (who could possibly be against growth?). The language of growth is the bedrock of capitalism’s cultural hegemony.
We need to call for a different kind of economy altogether: one that is organized around the interests of human well-being and ecology, rather than around the interests of capital.

Prof. Susan Paulson studies how gender, class, and ethnoracial systems interact with bodies and environments. She has researched and taught about Latin America for thirty years, fifteen of those living in South America among low-income, low-impact communities. Susan currently serves as Professor in the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida, and is studying changing masculinities among men who perform painful and dangerous labor in extractive industries. Her recent publications include Degrowth: culture, power and change; Pluriversal learning: pathways toward a world of many worlds; Degrowth and feminisms ally to forge care-full paths beyond pandemic, and The case for degrowth.

Dr. Jason Hickel is an anthropologist whose research focuses on global inequality, post-development and ecological economics. He is the author of a number of books, most recently The Divide: A Brief Guide to Global Inequality and its Solutions (Penguin 2017).  He contributes regularly to The Guardian, Al Jazeera and Foreign Policy, serves on the Labour Party task force on international development, and sits on Lancet Commission on Reparations and Redistributive Justice.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Jüngste Veröffentlichungen: Degrowth: culture, power and change; Pluriversal learning: pathways toward a world of many worlds; Degrowth and feminisms ally to forge care-full paths beyond pandemic, und The case for degrowth.

Dr. Jason Hickel ist Anthropologe, seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind globale Ungleichheit, Post-Wachstum und ökologische Ökonomie. Er ist Autor einer Reihe von Büchern, zuletzt Die Tyrannei des Wachstums. Er schreibt regelmäßig für The Guardian, Al Jazeera und Foreign Policy, ist Mitglied der Labour Party Task Force für internationale Entwicklung und Mitglied der Lancet-Kommission für Reparationen und Umverteilungsgerechtigkeit. Er ist Fellow der Royal Society of Arts.
