Scholarship program for domestic students
You can apply for the study scholarship for domestic students if you belong to the group of people eligible for BAföG (German Federal Training Assistance Act) Section 8 (see www.gesetze-im-internet.de/baf_g/__8.html). You must be eligible for BAföG.
This scholarship is awarded within the framework of the guidelines of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
You can be enrolled at a university in Germany, an EU country, or Switzerland. The university can be a university or a university of applied sciences. It must be either state-run or state-recognized.
The funding requirements for the various degrees:
You can receive funding from the second semester onwards,
- If you are studying a Bachelor's degree program and have half the standard period of study left before the start of funding. Only the Bachelor's degree counts, or, if you are aiming for it, both the Bachelor's and Master's degrees combined.
- If you are studying a Diplom, Magister, or State Examination program at a university. You must have at least four semesters of the standard period of study left before the start of funding.
- If you are studying at a university of applied sciences,
- If you are studying in a dual study program and if you meet all other funding criteria. Please note that the training allowance will be credited towards the scholarship.
- If you are starting the first semester of your Master's degree in the winter semester.
If you are already beginning your second semester of a Master's program by the application deadline of October 1st, you are welcome to apply to us if the Master's program is a four-semester program. You would then receive funding for the third and fourth semesters if you receive a scholarship.
The following are not eligible:
- A second full-time degree program (e.g., a second bachelor's or master's degree)
- Part-time (work-based) study program
- Master's program
- Graduation
- Psychotherapy training
- Study abroad for non-scholarship holders
- Language courses for non-scholarship holders
- Change of major after the start of the 4th semester
- Change of major during the master's program
- Study in Great Britain
- Students with a part-time job of more than 20 hours per week
Lux like scholarship program

You can apply for the Lux like scholarship program if
- You don't have an academic background.
- You already have a (technical) high school diploma and would like to study.
- You are about to graduate from a (technical) high school diploma and would like to study.
- You are interested in or committed to socio-political and social issues.
- You haven't yet studied.
Scholarship program for international students
Only foreign nationals can apply for the scholarship for international students.
This scholarship is awarded with funding from the Federal Foreign Office (AA) to foreign nationals who are coming to Germany to study.
You must not be eligible for BAföG Section 8 (see www.gesetze-im-internet.de/baf_g/__8.html) and must be staying in Germany for the purpose of studying. You are also eligible to apply if you are an EU national.
You must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Enrollment (if not already established: at least one admission) at a state or state-recognized university in Germany
- Proof of a completed bachelor's degree or completed undergraduate studies if you are enrolled in a Diplom, Magister, or Staatsexamen program
- Excellent academic performance
- Social or political engagement in the spirit of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation
- Very good German language skills (B2 level - proof of language acquisition)
- You have not been in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of application. This applies unless you have already studied in Germany (bachelor's degree) or are preparing for university studies.
- You must be in Germany to study.
The following are not eligible:
- The degree program
- A Bachelor's degree or the foundation degree program
- A master's degree program
- A second full-time degree program (e.g., a second Master's degree)
- A part-time (part-time) program
- Study abroad in the country of origin or in third countries
- A change of major during the Master's program or a change of major after the start of the fourth semester
