Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary Regional Office

(Kopie 1)

While democratic spaces and possibilities for the Left to act within them continue to be restricted in Hungary, new left-oriented actors are emerging in both Czechia and Slovakia despite an ongoing rightward drift in both societies. These are particularly interested in exchanges on topic like migration, the impacts of trade policy, perspectives for a fresh start in Europe, and a shared reconciliation of the politics of remembrance.

We support engagement with the region’s recent history. We are interested in a debate on contemporary historical topics conducted in a nuanced and pluralistic manner. That said, a vital politics of remembrance of the crimes of Nazism is also important to us.
