The Regional Office in Brussels coordinates the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung's work in the countries of Western Europe (Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland) and critical engagement with the European Union.
Western Europe's political landscape is subject to continual ruptures: Brexit and the European Union's ongoing legitimation crisis continue to shape events, while the austerity regimes that followed the financial crisis in countries like Spain or Ireland fundamentally change those societies.
The dialogue between various left-wing actors from politics, civil society, and academia we support seeks to improve the conditions for a solidary politics in Western Europe. We support the visibility of Eastern, Central Eastern, and Southeastern states in the European institutions. We also place special emphasis on the critical anylsis of the impacts of EU trade policies.
