Strengthening Trade Unions Worldwide

Around the world, multinational corporations undermine human rights, pollute our environment, and exploit working people. Poverty wages, health hazards at the workplace, lack of social security in case of illness, accident, or old age, as well as precarious employment conditions are major challenges in countries around the world. At the same time, trade unions and the broader labour movement are on the frontlines fighting for better conditions for workers, on every continent and in every industry.

The social and ecological crisis of our times, not to mention the extreme exploitation that takes place within international value chains, require that we radically rethink how our world works. After all, harsh exploitation at the workplace and poor social and environmental standards are merely the flipside of globalized capitalist production.

The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation supports better networking and organizing along transnational value chains, enabling trade unions to assert workers’ interests even in multinational corporations and globalized production processes. Together with our international network of trade unions and trade union-related organizations, we seek to strengthen transnational organizing and make the labour movement more visible in multilateral processes.
