Details

This exhibition is a rearranged and adapted selection of visual and textual elements from Beyond Molotovs – A Visual Handbook of Anti-Authoritarian Strategiespublished in 2024 by kollektiv orangotango and the International Research Group on Authoritarianism and Counter-Strategies with transcript Verlag.

The exhibition is printed as a newspaper to ensure a high print run and easy worldwide circulation. The aim of the exhibition, like our “Visual Handbook of Anti-Authoritarian Strategies”, is to inspire social movements and initiatives in their manifold struggles against authoritarian politics, to share experiences, and to facilitate collaborations. We want to thank you in advance for bringing it to your territories and incorporating it into your struggles. We are excited to get the exhibition up onto the wall and out into the world, reclaiming anti-fascist futures.

The exhibition consists of 27 pages, which are all part of a newspaper. Since the printing is double-sided, you will need two copies of this newspaper to hang the entire exhibition. For the arrangement of the sheets, and all other technical matters, you can refer to the manual and illustration we’ll be sending you with the newspaper-exhibition.

Our aim has been to make this exhibition as easy to host as possible. With two copies of this newspaper, something to fix the sheets to a surface, and a space 711 cm (23.3 ft) wide and 151 cm (4.95 ft) high, you’re ready to go. If this space is something similar to a wall, that would be particularly convenient. That wall can be inside a fancy gallery, part of a gritty underpass, in a bar, at your workplace, at your self-organized social center, or anywhere else, for that matter… If you don’t have a perfectly flat, continuous wall in the dimensions mentioned above, that’s not an issue. Feel free to interrupt the overall layout.

The exhibition is meant as a point of departure. If you, or the visitors of your exhibition, want to dive deeper into the strategies displayed, that’s great. Please, feel free to include additional content around these newspaper pages. Which empowering anti-authoritarian struggles and strategies are present in your territories? Add flyers, slogans, photos, or other relevant material to represent your local experiences!

More additional content is available online at orangotango.info/bme/material.

Please note: If you order one copy, you will get two copies. It's because printing of the newspaper is double-sided, you need two copies to hang the exhibition.
