Ambasada (Eng. embassy) - a nonprofit association founded in 2022 as a Berlin based interdisciplinary plat-form for contemporary art and sociopolitical discourse, with a regional focus on the former Yugoslavia. Ambasada initiates, realizes, and presents cultural produc-tions and collaborations with the aim of creating a structure of support and increasing the visibility of art and discourse from the region. It's vision is to strengthen resistant positions against nationalist, fascist, and patriarchal ideologies through the lens of art and culture, as well as to highlight marginalized positions.
This booklet offers a first mapping of feminist initiatives and organizations in the countries of the former Yugoslavia that situate their political practice within the tradition of antifascist struggle. Rather than a comprehensive overview, it foregrounds situated feminist knowledge, highlighting practices that connect local struggles with transnational solidarities.
Drawing on the historical legacy of the Antifascist Front of Women and the feminist antiwar movements of the 1990s, the publication presents contemporary initiatives that engage antifascism as a living political practice. Through archives, cultural work, activism, and education, these organizations challenge militarism, nationalism, patriarchy, and capitalism—demonstrating the continuing relevance of feminist antimilitarist politics in Europe today.
