Farmers' Protests in India. New hope for progressive alliances?

For months, Millions of farmers have been forming a blockade of India’s capital, New-Delhi. They protest the liberalization of the agricultural sector through three government bills, which is apprehended to threaten their already precarious livelihoods. Yet, this is only the most recent wave of resistance in a heterogeneous sequence of nationwide mass protests against the hindunationalist government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which have been occurring since 2019.
In this event we have discussed the socio-economic background and impact of the current farmers‘ protests, potential future scenarios as well as what contemporary India can teach us about resistance and solidarity in light of the global rise of right-wing authoritarianism.
