War and Peace

The world is spinning out of control, and new conflicts over the future of the world order are looming. Governing with a state of emergency is becoming the new normality. Meanwhile, new authoritarianisms pose the danger of incalculable social polarization, while the EU is on its way to becoming a military power in its own right. In this context, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation seeks to provide orientation and analysis. What are the causes of today’s wars and conflicts around the globe? How are the geopolitical and geo-economic changes in and around the EU to be assessed? Which central conflict areas are becoming more strategically important? And what could nuanced left-wing responses look like?

We develop and discuss approaches towards civil conflict prevention and management, concepts of “positive peace”, and elements of an alternative world economic and trade order. We seek to strengthen institutions of collective security or create new ones. In doing so, we work together with peace movements, civil society organizations committed to peace and development policy, women’s groups, trade unions, oppressed minorities, and more, often within the framework of international organizations.
