Hugo Haase

– lawyer; Social Democratic politician; one of several SPD leaders from 1911-1916; member of the Reichstag from 1912-1918; spokesperson of the SPD’s parliamentary group in the Reichstag from 1912-1915; read out the statement of approval for the war credits on 2 December 1914; 1916 leading member of the SDAG; leader of the USPD together with Georg Ledebour in 1917; 1918 co-chairman, together with Friedrich Ebert, of the Council of the People’s Deputies; died after an assassination attempt.
