mit Prof. Dr. Nadje Al-Ali (Direktorin des Center for Middle East Studies, Professorin für Internationale Studien, Anthropologie und Nahost-Studien an der Brown-Universität, USA)
Eine Veranstaltung der Gruppe Kritische Islamwissenschaftler:innen und Arabist:innen in Kooperation mit der Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Sachsen.
Vortragsreihe: „10 Jahre arabischer Frühling – eine kritische Betrachtung"
Vortrag und Diskussion in Englisch.
The talk will illustrate how a transnational feminist lens can enhance our understandings and discussions of protest and uprisings in West Asia and North Africa. Focusing on revolutionary struggles, uprisings and protest in Egypt, Iraq, Turkey and Lebanon, Prof Nadje Al-Ali will provide both a comparative lens as well as a critical feminist analysis that pays attention to the intersections of power configurations and inequalities. She will argue that a feminist analysis reveals that gender and sexuality is at the centre of both protest movements as well as authoritarian backlashed against uprisings.
