Wir freuen uns, in dem Hofkino im Franz-Mehring-Platz 1 einen tollen Film zu präsentieren: AWAKE dokumentiert den friedlichen Widerstand der indigenen Bewohner_innen des Standing Rock Sioux Reservats nahe Cannon-Ball in North-Dakota gegen die Dakota Access Öl- Pipeline (DAPL).

Unter dem Motto #NODAPL kämpfen indigene Aktivist_innen um ihre ökologischen Lebensgrundlagen, ihr Land und ihr sauberes Wasser, aber auch um ihre Selbstbestimmungsrechte. Unterstützt wurden sie im Winter 2016 von tausenden solidarischen Menschen aus den gesamten USA und aus aller Welt. Standing Rock wurde zum Symbol und zur Inspirationsquelle der globalen Bewegung für Klimagerechtigkeit. Der Film erzählt die dramatische Geschichte des Protests aus der Perspektive der Aktivist_innen und der Camp-Gemeinschaft vor Ort.

Am 22. April, dem alljährlichen Earth Day, feierte die neue Dokumentation der  Regisseure Josh Fox, James Spione und Myron Dewey Premiere auf dem prestigeträchtigen Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Wir bringen AWAKE und den #NODAPL – Widerstand nach Berlin. Ihr erfahrt außerdem, auf welchen Wegen ihr Euch vom 24.-29. August im Rheinland mit Ende Gelände für globale Klimagerechtigkeit einsetzen könnt.

We are excited to show a great movie at Friedrichshain's Hofkino: AWAKE follows the dramatic rise of the native-led peaceful resistance at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation near Cannon Ball, North Dakota against the Dakot Access Oil Pipeline (DAPL).

Under the sloagn #NODAPL indigenous activists fought for their ecological sources of life, their land and clean water, but also for their right of self-determination. Thousands of activists converged from around the USA and from the entire world to stand in solidarity with the water protectors. Standing Rock became a symbol and a source of inspiration for the global climate justice movement. The film tells the dramatic story of the protests in the perspective of the activists and camp community.

On April 22nd, Earth Day, the documentary from directors Josh Fox, James Spione and Myron Dewey, premiered at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. We bring AWAKE and the #NODAPL resistance as a community screening to Berlin. Besides you will learn how you can take action for global climate justice from August 24th to 29th in the Rhineland with Ende Gelände. Join the first public screening outside the US!
