Beschreibung

In each of their books, Libman, Lerman, and Loftin ask what it means to belong to a tradition in the wake of that tradition’s moral collapse. As Loftin wrestles with Christianity amid the resurgence of fascism, Libman wrestles with Judaism amid the destruction in Gaza, and Lerman wrestles with philosophy and literature's complicity in the creation of the pacified, helpless contemporary subject, all three explore whether standing against one’s tradition might in fact be the only way left of remaining faithful to that tradition.

Mac Loftin is a theologian, writer, and teacher at Harvard University, where he earned his PhD. His research explores the intersection of Christian theology and politics in the modern West. His new book is In the Twilight of the Christian West: A Theology of Mourning and Resistance.

Benjamin Libman is a writer and translator based in Paris. His book, The Third Solitude, A Memoir Against History, was published in 2025. His next book, Voyeur, will be published in 2027. He holds a PhD in English from Stanford University.

Lindsay Lerman is a writer and translator. Her first book, I'm From Nowhere, was published in 2020. Her second book, What Are You, was published in 2023. She is the translator of François Laruelle's first book. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. Her short stories, essays, and interviews have been published in the Los Angeles Review of Books, New York Tyrant, The Creative Independent, and elsewhere. She lives in Berlin.
