The process of restauration of capitalist relations, which arguably began already during a nominally socialist social system, entered a new phase with the disintegration of the Yugoslav Federation. The spheres of ideology and institutionalized policy were henceforth shaped solely by various versions of capitalist socio-economic relations. The institution of social property was abolished along with a series of labour–related institutions of the system of self-management; social assets were nationalized and a comprehensive mass privatization was initiated.
