The two-day international conference is part of a joint project on the state of health services in South Asia within the framework of the ORF-RLS “Asia-European Policy Dialogue”. The emphasis will be on the role of the state to provide for basic health services looking at the socio-economic conditions under which people live as well as the governance mechanisms and initiatives, since these are key determinants of health. Panels will cover five focus areas, namely Health Policy and Governance, State of Public Health, Rural Poverty and Health, Environmental Pollution as well as Urbanization and Health.
