We are pleased to invite you to the launch of “The Transformation of the Global Automotive Industry: Trends, Interpretations, Socio-ecological Strategies for Action. A Handbook for Trade Unions and Political Practice”. Based on extensive research and many interviews conducted with trade unionists in Germany, Latin America and China, the authors Jörn Boewe and Johannes Schulten dispel many myths and illusions about the conversion of the automotive industry to electromobility.
Their new book provides an overview of the driving forces of transformation, its risks and false promises. Above all, however, its indispensable contribution is to show how trade unions and a left-wing industrial policy in the new value and supply chains can and must organize renewed international solidarity. A “Just Transition” is possible, but it needs to be carefully prepared and organized, so that the coming decades do not become defensive battles. The Geneva Trade Union Programme of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation has produced this handbook in order to finally provide a summary of the state of play.
The authors will present their study and answer questions during the subsequent discussion. The seminar will be held in German with simultaneous interpretation to English.
You can register to participate via Zoom here.
The book will soon be available to be downloaded free of charge.
