Even before studying social sciences with a specialisation in African Politics, Franza Drechsel was interested in social and political conditions in African countries. Since 2012, she has been following developments in Burkina Faso particularly closely and has been involved in gold mining conflicts there for some time. She has been a project manager at the RLS since 2018 and a consultant for West Africa since 2019. She is also involved in feminist organisations within the RLS and beyond.
