Join us for the South African premiere of The Last Seed, a documentary feature film on the past and future of African food and agriculture. Experts, activists, and small-scale food producers unpack the growing threats to age-old practices of seed saving, selection, and exchange on the African continent, presenting alternatives in a bid to transform our food systems and challenge the destructive practices of corporations. Farmers from Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania talk about the sustainability and adaptability of their farming practices and share wisdom worth discovering.

The film premiere will be followed by a discussion and reception with the following guests:

  • Mariam Mayet, African Centre for Biodiversity (ACB)
  • Prof. Mvuselelo Ngcoya, University of KwaZulu-Natal
  • Vanessa Black, Biowatch South Africa
  • Andréa Gema, Film Director

Moderation:

  • Refiloe Joala, Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung
