August Thalheimer
– Social Democratic and Communist politician; joined the Spartacus Group in 1916; worked as chief editor of the Braunschweig SPD paper “Volksfreund”in 1915/16; became a member the Workers’ and Soldiers’ Council of Stuttgart in 1918; member of the Central Committee of the Spartacus League and KPD from 1918; served as the scapegoat for the failure of the “German October” planned by the CPSU in 1923; in “honorary exile” (“Comintern-ed”), alongside the leader of the KPDO Heinrich Brandler, in 1929; emigrated in 1933; died in Cuba.
