Carl Minster

1873–1942

– Social Democratic politician; editor of the Niederrheinische Arbeiterzeitung in 1914, editor of Der Kampf (Duisburg – in which Franz Mehring as well as the censored Rosa Luxemburg anonymously published until it was banned) 1916–1917; emigration to Amsterdam in 1917, tricked back to Germany by German intelligence services; emigration to Saarland in 1933, sentenced to death by the Nazi “People’s Court” and executed in 1942.
