Rudolf Hilferding

– leading Social Democratic politician and theoretician (his book Finance Capital was published in 1910); joined the USPD in 1917; returned to the SPD in 1922; Reich Finance Minister in 1923 and 1928; member of the Reichstag from 1924-1933; emigrated in 1933, ending up in France where he was handed over to the Gestapo in 1941; died after severe torture.
